What is a GO Mission Partner?
If you received an invitation to become a Mission Partner, this explains what that means.
The short version
A Coordinator (typically a for-profit business) wants to organize mission trips but can't legally accept tax-deductible donations. They're asking your 501(c)(3) to be the donation recipient. Donors give to the trip; the donations flow directly into your existing payment system (Stripe Connect or external like ACS/DonorPerfect/Breeze); you issue tax receipts on your letterhead.
What GO does NOT do
- GO is never the merchant-of-record for donations
- GO does not hold, transfer, or process donor funds, ever
- GO does not issue tax receipts on your behalf (you do, from your own system)
- GO does not have authority to change your 501(c)(3) status, policies, or compliance footprint
What GO does provide
- A platform for the coordinator to run trip logistics (team portal, fundraising pages, tasks, documents)
- Per-trip visibility for you: donations received, donor details, participant progress, exportable CSVs
- Free access to GO while you're sponsored (normally $39/month, free for mission partners)
- The option to upgrade to run your own trips independently, if you ever want to
What's in it for your organization
- New donors you may never have reached otherwise: coordinators bring their own employee networks
- Mission impact amplification: more teams in the field serving your mission
- Free platform access: you get GO's full feature set at no cost during the partnership
- Low overhead: the coordinator handles trip logistics, recruiting, and team comms; you handle donations and receipts (your existing strength)
What the coordinator handles
- Trip logistics: flights, lodging, ground transport, itinerary
- Team recruiting and communication
- Fundraising pages (on your donation system, but coordinated through GO)
- Documents, waivers, medical forms
- The $99/month platform subscription
What you handle
- Donation processing (through your own Stripe or external system)
- Issuing tax receipts (your letterhead, your EIN, your compliance)
- Year-end giving statements to your donors
- Any 501(c)(3) compliance related to the mission activity
