Understanding Exemption Statuses
Not every team member fundraises the same way. GO supports several exemption types to handle different situations:
No Exemption (Default)
The participant must fundraise to reach their individual goal. They have a fundraising page, receive donations, and are included in team donation splits.
Self-Funded
The participant is paying their own way — they don't need to raise money from donors. Key points:
- Their fundraising goal is still tracked for reporting purposes
- They are excluded from team donation splits (team-level donations won't go to them)
- Their fundraising page is hidden or marked as self-funded
- They still appear in the team roster and other trip features
Fully Exempt
The participant has no cost at all. This is typically used for:
- Local volunteers who don't need travel expenses
- Staff members whose costs are covered by the organization's general budget
- Scholarship recipients
Partial Exemption
The participant has a reduced fundraising goal. You can set a custom lower amount. This might apply when:
- A participant received a partial scholarship
- Some costs are covered by another source
Team Covered
The organization pays for this participant. Similar to fully exempt, but specifically indicates the organization is covering the cost from its own funds.
